Plan and Measure Closet

Measure closet dimensions and sketch layout.

Measure width, height, depth of closet interior.

Use a tape measure to record interior dimensions.

Sketch layout on graph paper or design app.

Draw a simple plan showing where shelves, rods, and accessories will go.

Purchase Materials

Buy organizer kit, tools, and hardware.

List required tools: drill, level, stud finder, screwdriver, measuring tape.

Ensure you have all necessary tools before starting.

Purchase organizer kit and any additional screws or wall anchors.

Select a kit that matches your closet size and style.

Prepare the Closet Space

Empty and clean the closet before installation.

Remove all clothing, shoes, and accessories from the closet.

Place items in a temporary area to keep them clean.

Vacuum or sweep floor and wipe down walls and shelves.

Ensure surfaces are free of dust and debris.

Locate Studs and Mark Layout

Find wall studs and mark installation lines.

Use stud finder to locate studs and mark centers with pencil.

Mark each stud center for secure anchoring.

Mark desired shelf bracket heights using a level and pencil.

Draw horizontal lines where shelf brackets will attach.

Install Wall Standards / Tracks

Secure standards to studs ensuring they are plumb.

Pre-drill pilot holes into studs at marked positions.

Use a drill bit slightly smaller than screw diameter.

Attach standards with screws, checking vertical alignment with level.

Tighten screws until standards are firmly secured and vertical.

Install Shelves

Place shelves onto brackets and ensure they are level.

Insert shelf brackets into standards at chosen height.

Slide brackets into the slots of the standards.

Set shelf on brackets and verify level front-to-back and side-to-side.

Adjust bracket position if shelf is not level.

Install Hanging Rods

Attach rod supports and insert hanging rod.

Add Drawers / Baskets (if applicable)

Assemble and install drawer units or baskets.

Follow manufacturer instructions to assemble drawer unit.

Use provided hardware and tools to build the drawer.

Install drawer slides into standards and test smooth operation.

Ensure drawer slides are level and move freely.

Install Accessories (shoe racks, belts, etc.)

Hook accessories onto standards for added organization.

Level and Adjust All Components

Check that all shelves, rods, and accessories are level.

Use a bubble level to verify each shelf and rod is level.

Place level on surface and read bubble position.

Adjust bracket positions as needed and re-tighten screws.

Loosen, shift, then retighten to achieve level.

Secure Loose Fasteners

Tighten all screws and verify stability.

Load Closet with Items

Organize clothing and accessories into the new system.

Sort items by type and season; place heavier items on lower shelves.

Keep frequently used items at eye level.

Hang garments on rod, fold items on shelves, and place accessories in baskets.

Use appropriate hangers and storage bins for neatness.
